The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of profit and non for profit organisations working to improve the living conditions and quality of life of vulnerable populations, in specific locations of the world, irrespective of their race, religion, ethnicity or gender. AKF interventions contribute to economic, social and cultural development of a given region, both in rural and urban settings.
It will contribute with its expertise in bringing together practitioners, teacher educators and researchers to promote quality practice, with a focus on a pluralist outlook and experience working with migrant and vulnerable families and urban community development approach.

ESE Santarém

ESE Santarém

ESEIPS is affiliated with Santarém Polytechnic Institute and aims at teacher and other educational agents training. ESEIPS offers academic programmes at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level. As part of the superior (polythechnic) education system, courses are oriented mainly towards practice (Pedagogical Practicum in case of courses aimed at teaching and Training Period in case of other courses) but comprehend research components that promote reflection, conceptualization and creation of theoretical frameworks to training activity and generate new knowledge. ESEIPS participates extensively in national and international (mainly within the Community of Portuguese Language Countries) teachers training programs. This wide training activity enables ESEIPS to develop knowledge and skills concerning different publics courses conception, organization, implementation, monitoring, supervision and evaluation.
